Header #STG5-214

FEATURES

Designed for:  66-74 B-body and 70-74 E-body chassis.

Primary tube size:  2-1/4" O.D.

Collector size:  4.0" with welded 3-bolt flange.

Flanges:  3/8" thick, laser-cut, contoured for a leak free fit.

Material:  Constructed of 16 gauge mild steel tubing.  Mandrel bent on sophisticated computer controlled bending machines for precise fit and uninterrupted exhaust flow. The mandrel bending process maintains a constant inside diameter of the tube for a smoother finish with no restriction of flow and no crimping of the tubes.

One piece design:  One piece header tubes / No slip tubes.

Under chassis design:  Above the steering center link design offers maximum header to ground clearance.

Full length header design:  Proven power gain vs. shorty design.

Recommended for:  600+ horsepower.

Torsion bar removal:  Not required.

Header set includes:  Header gaskets, 22 header bolts, header reducer adapters with 3-bolt gaskets & hardware.

Platform:

66-74 B-BODY and 70-74 E-BODY

• Check your engine location:  Click here for factory dimensions [FN39]

• Hemi blocks with 440-RB mount ears will require modification to the casting on the driver-side.  Approximately 3/8” of the material must be removed to clear the header tube and a fabricated steel mount will be required

Engine Size:

426 HEMI, 472-crate, 528-crate

(!) We do not make any headers for the Early 392 Hemi blocks.

• Headers fit with Schumacher Creative Services engine mounts or equivalent (OEM).

Cylinder Heads:

(!) Applications using the Stage-5 stock (low-port) heads must use header #HEMI-218, HEMI-214, or HEMI214-4

Front Suspension:

STOCK or Equivalent, retaining torsion bars

COILOVER SYSTEMS:  RMS Alterktion, Magnumforce Tubular, Magnumforce Modular Transformer, Control Freak

(These headers have been fit-checked with these coilover systems and found there to be no clearance issues)

• Headers will not clear FFI (Firm Feel Inc) fast ratio pitman & idler arm.  The FFI arm is 3/4" longer than the stock arm.  (The OEM arm measures 5-1/4" from center to center)

Auto Trans:

• Floor Shift:  Some applications with an auto transmission may require the adjustable swivel & the lower rod to be re-positioned to clear the header collector, see illustration sheet #3703

• Keisler Auto Trans:  Applications using the Keisler Auto Trans with the 5/8" spacer must use a PowerMaster XS Torque starter 9523.

• Keisler Tremec TKO-500/600 Transmission:  It is imperative that the output end of the tail shaft is in exactly the same position as the stock transmission output shaft for the headers to fit properly.

• Chrysler part no's:  R53005984, 56027702AC

• Mopar Performance part no's:  P5249644AB, P5007860, P4286522

• PowerMaster Performance XS torque starter no:  9523 

(!) Applications using the Keisler/Tremec Automatic Transmission with the 5/8" spacer, must use a PowerMaster starter #9523.

10.5" 130-tooth ring gear, 11" 143-tooth ring gear

Bellhousing:

• Lakewood Bellhousing scatter shield:  Modification is required to the passenger-side bell-housing.  A half moon shaped notch will need to be ground down approximately 1/4" deep to clear the header tube.

Our headers were designed to fit with the engines located to the factory specifications.  If the engine is not located correctly in the chassis, the headers will not fit properly.  We strongly suggest you check your engine location prior to installation.

Due to various manufacturing designs, aftermarket parts, engine configurations, suspension combinations, etc... TTi cannot ensure headers and exhaust systems to fit all combinations.  However, we have done our best to accommodate both factory and aftermarket component combinations.  In some cases, slight modification or repositioning may be required on your part to clear the specific situation.

•  Evacuation tubes and EGT probe fittings can be installed prior to coating headers.  Installation of these options are considered a "Special-Order".  Please allow an additional 3-4 weeks for the special order work and the coating process.
